Dear Bay High Supporter,
We would like to share with you some exciting news regarding another opportunity to raise money for the Rockets Association at the Nautica Charity Poker Center at the Powerhouse in the Flats. Very much like last year, we have an opportunity to operate the Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament on two days in November (Thursday, November 12 and Saturday, November 14). We obviously need your help!
The Powerhouse has been extraordinarily busy this fall and the opportunity to raise large amounts of money for these two days could be substantial. We need dealers and we need collectors. The money is raised by players paying seat fees. The more tables, we have going, results in more money raised for the group. The collected funds will be used by the Rocket Association in their ongoing Rockets Renovation-Phase 2 Project or a future project yet to be named (support for a new gym floor, rebuilding the home side concession stand, etc.). The money will be used for the betterment of our student athletes in some form. The best thing about Nautica money is it only comes as a result of volunteering and not from our pockets!
Thursday is an eight hour day, and our shifts run from 3:30 p.m.-12:00 a.m. Saturday is a ten hour day and our shifts run from 1:30 p.m.-12:00 a.m. We are often in a position to send a portion of the group home soon after 11:00 p.m. if there are not enough players during that shift.
Please consider signing up for one of the following six shifts. If you are able to do more than one shift, that would be tremendous and very much appreciated.
The shifts will be:
Shift 1-Thursday, November 12, 2009-3:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
Shift 2- Thursday, November 12, 2009-6:45 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
Shift 3- Thursday, November 12, 2009-9:45 p.m.-12:00 p.m.
Shift 4- Saturday, November 14, 2009-1:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Shift 5- Saturday, November 14, 2009-5:45 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Shift 6- Saturday, November 14, 2009-8:45 p.m.-12:00 a.m.
If you can help, please contact me via email bvhs_jc@leeca.org . Please tell me what shift (s) you can work and what role you would like to play (collector or dealer). Please also let me know whether you need a refresher (or instruction) in either job. Thank you in advanced for volunteering. There will not be an athletic contest impacting Bay High School on November 12; Should we play for the state championship in soccer, it will be on November 13, 2009.
